Today, we had a meeting with senior members of the Statutory SEND team, Social Care and Health. Find out what we discussed!

Today, we had a meeting with senior members of the Statutory SEND team, Social Care and Health. We talked about the following:

Memorandum of Understanding: We are putting this document together and will present it to the SEND Board for all involved to discuss and then sign up to. It’s the statement of how we work as a forum and what we do. It lays out the importance of having a parent carer voice in strategic decisions and puts forward what we believe is the best way of working together. We’re going to send our draft of that off to the relevant people in Statutory SEND, Social Care and Health and it will get discussed. We’ll keep updating.

Transport: We’ve had feedback from a lot of parent carers about the ongoing situation with transport and taxis. We have raised it previously – and put forward a case study to the SEND Board. We were hoping to see a member of the transport team in the meeting today, but sadly they were out of office. However, one of the actions from that meeting was to take it forward.

Working Together: It is our role to be the voice of parent carers and one of the ways we do that is by working with professionals when they are creating something or  making changes. In the meeting today, we discussed ways that we can be involved. As we get involved in more projects, we’ll keep this updated!

Thank you!
